Normally we will use this blog to try to help you with information on online training and orientation, but we thought it would be good to introduce our company and thought of no better way than from the perspective of our newest employee Carrie Peck. Enjoy reading on her first few days here with us:
GUILTY: I lack patience when bombarded with a sales call. Solicitors are the worst. The usual response I give when called by a solicitor is “sorry, she’s not available and won’t be in the future so please don’t call back.” If I received a response like that, it would be difficult not to take it personally. Having an outlook like this prior to my first day at Comevo made the thought of holding a lead generating position through cold calling a terrifying one.
All I could hope for before I made that first call was that the people I called were a bit more receptive than I usually am with sales people. To my advantage though, I make calls to people sitting at desks, not at a dinner table. Also, I am calling about a solution that directly affects the person and their job. Lastly, I believe in our solution: it is so much more than just software; in fact it is a service. Behind that service is a group of hardworking individuals who are loyal to their customers if those customers willing to take that first step and check out our services. These three factors helped lessen my fear before making that first call.
To my surprise, that first call was a home run! I spoke with a gentleman from a Community College in Kansas. He was the ideal candidate for our @school Online Orientation: a director looking for a fresh way to introduce students to his college. After the five minute conversation assessing his current orientation practice and letting him know about Comevo we scheduled a follow up demonstration (my ultimate goal)! This was a huge relief and gave me the courage to keep on calling!
Since then, I have encountered a variety of responses but my goal remains the same, I am here trying to help. That’s what it means to be a part of Comevo, to have the desire to provide a top rate online orientation and training service.
The position of lead generation lends variety to the job because you never know how someone will react. Each call is a brand new slate to work with. However if I have gained such confidence in our service after just three weeks on the job, think how strongly I will feel after six.
